A care-giver was fired after stealing cash from a woman in a nursing home at the center of nursing home abuse allegations.
Police were called to Kerrvale Nursing Home in Glasgow after one of the elderly residents reported that their money was missing.
A staff member was fired and the owners of the home, Southern Cross, had to reimburse the woman.
The incident is just one of many failings that officials have found with the home. Another staff member is currently suspended over allegations of abuse. One worker actually fed an elderly resident a horrible liquidized mixture of food! Another staff member was suspended over allegations that a man died because an ambulance wasn't called quickly enough.
The list of problems with this home goes on and on. Officials actually found that for two weeks the home had no working fire alarm!
In April, the commission was told by residents that they were "not attended too often by the night staff and were handled roughly".
Staff admitted that the nurses call system was unplugged!
The Glasgow City Council has now refused to send any more residents to the home pending investigations.
Last night, a spokesman for Southern Cross said the local fire service were told there was no working alarm.
